Ewazen's substantial Trio for Trumpet, Violoncello, and Piano was composed for Croatian trumpeter Tomislav Spoljar and his Velika Gorica Brass Festival. The Trio has been recorded for Albany Records by Chris Gekker on trumpet and Michelle Djokic on cello, with the composer at the piano. Ewazen weaves the sonorities of brass, string, and piano, to create a three-player "mini-chamber orchestra."
